The First Annual Franklin George Old Time Music Gathering was held April 25, 26 at Camp Sheppard near Gandeeville, Roane County, West Virginia. Franklin George is a living legend in old time, Appalachian Music. Franklin plays fiddle, banjo and other instruments including the Highland Pipes.

Franklin has appeared at the Smithsonian, Harvard and has also played in Europe. He was a guest Master at the American Fiddle Tunes Festival in Port Townsend, Washington in years past.

At this years gathering approximately forty musicians from at least five different states gathered with another 160 people in attendance who truly enjoy visiting and sharing traditional music. The DVD within contains unedited footage from the festival which captures the flavor of the event.

This event is a gathering and not a festival. It is not intended as a commercial event and is sponsored by Roane County Family Health Care in cooperation with PATCH 21st Century Learning Program that does wonderful work with young people. PATCH was responsible for planning and implementing many of the events at the gathering. The Dates of the 2009 Festival are April 24th and 25th. Contact Larry W.
